Tour de Phoenix, the New Year's Day hiking and cycling race through Phoenix! Ring in the New Year with an epic challenge! Designed by our very own Jon Hillis @jonsilenth, this adventure is not for the faint of heart. The full Tour de Phoenix is to hike six Phoenix area peaks and road bike in between, starting at Dixie Mountain and ending on South Mountain. You can modify it by driving between the peaks instead of biking (co-host @MagsExplores will be doing that option). Feel free to invite non-Bootleggers to join this challenge, and use #tourdephoenix2022 to share your photos.
This is a serious endeavor with around 20 miles of hiking and 40-50 miles of cycling on roads that may not have bike lanes the whole way. The last section, especially to South Mountain, is very challenging. Do this at your own risk!
You will want to have your own bail out plans should things not work out, as well as a full bike service kit — including lights for night riding and power pack to keep your phone charged.
This is self-supported — AZ Bootleg 100 will not be providing rides/snacks/aid/etc. Please make your own plans for hydration, nutrition, and shuttles.
